On the macro scale, I gathered datasets of satellite imagery focused around cities, weather systems and alpine-mountainous topography.  On the micro scale, close-ups of tree-barks, leaves, fungi, circuit boards and microchips.

These vast datasets of imagery are then  used to train AI-models that generate abstract images which capture the “essence” of the commonalties in these patterns.  These AI-generated images are then used as the framework for creating  real-time generative visualizations.

For this project I’ve built a generative-visualizer,  which morphs, evolves and reacts in response to its audio counterpart composed by collaborator Alex Mackay.  Resulting in a symphony of live generative visual expressions of natural and man-made patterns as imagined by a machine.

As part of the second chapter of the “Imaginary Cities” collaboration I was commissioned by SSENSE and Burberry to create an audio-visual installation inside their iconic Chicago Burberry store. The concept of the installation was to explore fractal patterns found in nature juxtaposed with patterns found in man-made design; both on a micro and a macro scale.

The visuals were generated in real-time by on-site machines.  As a result, each viewer was treated to a unique version, marking a truly distinctive experience during its tenure at the Burberry store.
